Admission to VET Institutions on the
Basis of General Secondary Education
For the years 1995-1998 the admission to the vocational education and training institutions on the basis of general secondary education was carried out by the SSAC in a centralized way, but during 1994-2004 this process was fulfilled by secondary education institutions themselves. Since 2005 the realization of this process is entrusted to the SSAC again.
The electronic application to the secondary education institutions on basis of general education was implemented from May 12 to June 13, 2014. Admission rules, call for applicants, list of undergraduate degree programs were established in the issue number 4 of “Abituriyent” journal.
Applicants who graduated from general secondary education in previous years attended examinations on the subjects of Native language and Mathematics, while graduates of current year did not attend in admission examination and participated in the admission contest due to results they gained on relevant subjects in school-leaving examination (on the basis of general secondary education).
Applicants selecting majors requiring aptitudes, before confirming their application, registered for participating in the selection rounds. Those, who registered, participated in the examinations conducted by the SSAC (both previous and current year graduates).
During the selection round the examination results were assessed by “eligible” and “non-eligible” criteria and only the applicants getting “eligible” were able to select the corresponding majors requiring aptitude. According to the admission rules, the applicants were allowed to select other majors alongside with majors requiring aptitude.
Major selection round was conducted when admission examinations finalized. Applicants with 16 points and higher were allowed to select majors. Each applicant could choose 12 majors of the different education institutions both on state and paid basis. Applicants identified the sequence of major codes by themselves.
Admission to the VET institutions on the basis of general secondary education consisted of 9601 quota. Total 8524 applicants admitted to colleges and this number comprises 88.74% of all quota.
